Media & Standards Conversions
To send your corporate video/DVD to another country, your own recorded video tapes to friends abroad or to play a foreign video tape/DVD on your system, you must consider video conversion.
The process of Video Standards Conversion takes the video signal which has been recorded or broadcast in one standard and converts it to the new video format. We use the latest technology to give you a professionally converted copy of your original source. Amstore Interactive provide many different video format conversions relating to any video system.
3 main world TV broadcast standards.
NTSC (video system used in North America and most of South America) , PAL (most of Europe) and SECAM (mainly for France). Each standard is incompatible with the other. For example, a video recording made in the UK could not be played on US standard VCR's or shown on the TV.
VHS vs. Video System
VHS tapes are physically identical worldwide, but the material recorded to the tape will be NTSC, PAL or SECAM.
Tape recording and playback times also vary dependant on the standard used by the video recorder and also the tape used.
DVD vs. Video System
For DVD, an extra element has to be taken into consideration: the region code (a tool to control DVD business). DVDs are encoded according to 6 regions:
- Region 1 - The U.S., U.S. territories and Canada
- Region 2 - Europe, Japan, the Middle East, Egypt, South Africa, Greenland
- Region 3 - Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong
- Region 4 - Mexico, South America, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Caribbean
- Region 5 - Russia, Eastern Europe, India, most of Africa, North Korea, Mongolia
- Region 6 - China
- Region 0 - are 'code Free' DVD and are worldwide playable (regarding the region only) as
The DVD region number has nothing to do with picture information (coded either PAL or NTSC).
Even If most recent DVD players have the ability to directly convert PAL to NTSC, and able to be multi-region, it is recommended to be on a safe side, by using our conversion facilities to ensure that your corporate DVD will play abroad If you want to avoid those:
- NTSC televisions (e.g. US) won't playback PAL DVD, even If your player is a multi-region. A black and white picture that rolls vertically will result.
- Basic American DVD player won't boot up by inserting a PAL DVD because they are not multi-region. More, they won't play anyway because they are PAL encoded!
